To keep it simple we have used Back 1-4 on a daily basis not race by race.
Day one stake 1 unit per bet, if a winning day repeat same stake next day,
if lose go to 2 units a bet day 2, if previous day (s) losses recovered, back to
1 unit bets, if a profit but losses not recovered, go to 3 units a bet, if losses recovered back to win if not go to 4 units a bet (the maximmum) never more than 4 units abet.

In the figures below we see: 1.All Rated horses at 570 and higher Return On Investment was 32% 2.Then we look at horses starting from barriers 1 to 9 inclusive. Only takes a few minutes to get the 570 rated horses for the day. Then you can place the bets and forget about them. We have not looked at restricting the odds range as we do get as you can see some good priced winners. On the 1-9 barrier rule, this does not allow for the positions to be changed after non runners. So if they are not listed between 1 and 9 in the rating selections then it has not been considered. This is only one of the simple easy way to use the ratings. Look what Steve just sent me:

On Sunday we had 15 horses that were under 3.50, 10 Won, profit 7.27 after comms.
As you can see above over the last 14 days under 3.50 are just breaking even
on 221 bets.

If you look at the result below, it shows a very good reason to use Betfair.
With commission allowed for, it made 8% more profit in one day.

Also keep in mind when you pay commission on a winning bet, if you had a losing bet in the race that is deducted of the profit before commission is applied.

The formula used in these ratings is the exact same we use in the Rate The Races UK, Ireland and world version. And that throw up good priced winners, and the same is so of the Australian RTR. You can save the ratings in a csv format to use on excel, open office or the such like. The Ratings are available from around 9.45am Australia Eastern Daylight time. Or 6.45am West Australian Time. You do get also days in advance ratings at the same time, so on Monday you will usually get, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
